Senior Geologist - Overview The Senior Geologist is responsible for geological interpretations to support all subsurface activities on all the Trinidad & Tobago operated and non-operated licences and new venture opportunities. Working with the support of colleagues and on their own initiative they will undertake technical studies across the regional asset base to support exploration, near field appraisals, development and production projects and field operations. They will also have specific responsibility for maintaining relationships with a variety of local external stakeholders, in particular the Energy Ministry, Petrotrin and other joint venture partners.Senior Geologist - The Role
- Generate technically validated geological interpretations using a good understanding and knowledge of sedimentology, structural geology, geochemistry, biostratigraphy, log analysis, geochemistry and basin modelling
- Using petrophysical and well log interpretation skills derive appropriate ranges of reservoir properties for use in prospect analysis and reservoir modelling using log and core data
- Build 3D geological models for prospect and field studies to characterise reservoirs, undertake volumetric analysis and for input to dynamic modelling studies
- Undertake well planning using the company procedures including Statement of Requirements, Well Planning Package and Drilling Programmes. Monitor well operations and coordinate activities with operations geologists, drilling engineers and offshore operations teams. As required undertake visits to field sites
- Undertake prospect evaluation using probabilistic and deterministic hydrocarbon volume estimation and risking techniques. Present interpretation studies at internal and external technical reviews
- Support geological interpretations by working closely with a geophysicist or undertake interpretation of geophysical data
- Acts as the key contact point on all company geological interpretations and studies with external stakeholders including the Energy Ministry, Petrotrin and other JV partners and regulatory authorities
- Undertakes all work with due regard to health and safety of self and others and of the environment in line with company HSE policies and procedures. Fully engage with HSE initiatives in Port of Spain office
- Good understanding of the regional geology of Trinidad and Tobago
- Degree in Geology or a related discipline and previous experience in an asset geologist role at an upstream operating company
- Self starter able to deliver results within given timeframes, able to adapt and prioritise conflicting demands on multiple projects
- Ideas generator with well developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team worker and proven relationship-builder - internally and externally
- Highly effective communicator with good written and presentation skills
- Good organisational and planning skills
