Network Specialist (1 position)
Role: Reporting to the Head. Information Technology Unit, this Officer is responsible for providing networking technologies so as to facilitate adequate capabilities, by modifying and expanding the Communication Network within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and designs the data communications network and installation of communications software as part of data processing systems and operations;
- Participates in specification and selection of communications software, terminals and communications control equipment;
- Recommends to management, improving or modifying capacity or network design to ensure adequate capabilities;
- Monitors network usage and service experience and making adjustments for improvements;
- Identifies causes of failure and problem areas in the data communications network, and takes corrective action;
- Develops and documents standards and specifications for the network;
- Tests data communications network and evaluates the results;
- Maintains, Expands and upgrades the Police Network Communication System;
- Supports networking technologies to facilitate inter-connection to other agencies;
- Supervises a team of Network Administrators ensuring targets are met.
Qualifications /Experience/Skills
- Degree in Computer Science.
- MCSE or equivalent experience
- CCNA
Five years experience in the design and administration of medium to large networks. - Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAMVLAN/VPN/VolP/Routers/Switches/PIX Firewalls
- Excellent communication. multi-tasking. technical, analyticai, organizational, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
